About Dr. Aguirre
Dr. Michael Aguirre, a native of Florida, raised in Gainesville, is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon known for combining advanced surgical expertise with genuine compassion for his patients. As a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS), Dr. Aguirre provides comprehensive care in all aspects of the specialty—including wisdom tooth removal, dental implant reconstruction, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, facial trauma, TMJ disorders, and the surgical management of sleep apnea and oral pathology.
Dr. Aguirre received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Nova Southeastern University and his Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) from University of Florida. After completing a hospital-based general surgery practice residency at Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, Dr. Aguirre joined the University of Florida College of Dentistry as faculty where he taught dental students techniques in minimally invasive surgery and bone preparation for dental implants.
He went on to complete his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Florida Health Science Center in Gainesville, where he was Chief Resident of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Chief Resident at the Center for Implant Dentistry. His training emphasized complex implant reconstruction, bone grafting and prosthetically driven surgical planning – an approach that continues to define his precision-focused surgical philosophy. Dr. Aguirre remains closely connected to the University of Florida Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, contributing to resident education and serving as an examiner during mock board sessions for ABOMS candidates.
Dr. Aguirre holds hospital privileges at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, and Moffitt Cancer Center. He serves on the Trauma Teams at both Bayfront and Johns Hopkins and on the ENT Reconstructive Team at Moffitt Cancer Center.
Patients and referring doctors trust Dr. Aguirre’s meticulous technique, calm professionalism, and ability to restore both function and confidence through surgery.
In his free time, Dr. Aguirre enjoys pickleball, spending time with his wife and dogs and giving back to the St Petersburg community.
