About Dr. Boland
Dr. Boland was raised in Hazleton, PA and has lived in St. Petersburg, FL for forty years. He is a dual-degree, board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon and one of only a select few in St. Petersburg to hold both a dental degree and a medical degree. As a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS), Dr. Boland provides comprehensive care in all aspects of the specialty – including wisdom tooth removal, dental implant reconstruction, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, facial trauma, TMJ disorders, and oral pathology.
Dr. Boland earned his Bachelor of Science in Biophysics from Penn State University, where he graduated Cum Laude. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dentistry (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. After completing a one-year general practice residency at University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Boland earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Vanderbilt, where he was Chief Resident, as well as an internship in general surgery. After several years in clinical practice, Dr. Boland further expanded his leadership and business expertise by earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of South Florida.
Dr. Boland holds hospital privileges at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital and Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital where he is also a member of the Trauma Teams. He was an elite member of the Cleft Lip & Palate Team at All Children’s Hospital for twenty-five years. His extensive training, dual-degreed credentials, and decades of surgical experience place him among the highest qualified oral surgeons in the Tampa Bay region. He has been recognized multiple times in Tampa Magazine as a Top Dentist in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and has been listed in the national USA topDentists directory since 2008.
Known for his surgical precision, warm bedside manner, and commitment to patient-centered care, Dr. Boland is trusted by both patients and referring doctors for his expertise and compassion.
In his free time, Dr. Boland enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid mountain and rock-climbing enthusiast. He enjoys helping others and has served on cleft-palate mission trips in Russia, Peru, and Haiti. He remains active in his church and enjoys giving back to the St. Petersburg community.
